Thinking about making a Will and how you would like your estate to pass on death can be uncomfortable. However, by making a Will it gives clarity to you, your executors and your beneficiaries, as to what will happen to your estate after you die. Your estate includes any property you own, your money and your possessions. If you don’t make a Will, the law, not those closest to you, decides how your estate is passed on.
We identify your requirements, explain the terminology and assist with drafting a straightforward will. Should your needs be more complex your IFA can advise on estate planning and mitigating inheritance tax.
Lasting Power of Attorney Registration Service
There are two types of Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA); Property & Financial Affairs and Health & Welfare.
Having a Lasting Power of Attorney ensures that, should you lose mental or physical capacity, or no longer wish to make decisions for yourself, a trusted person or persons can legally take care of your affairs. Without an LPA in place your family or loved ones would find it difficult to do even simple tasks on your behalf. With an LPA, decisions can be made about your property and personal affairs and/or your health and welfare. An LPA can only be used after it has been registered with the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG).
We explain the two types of LPA and confirm the procedure and costs in writing. Once we have your consent to proceed we prepare the forms and then, depending on your location and willingness to travel, either arrange a meeting or mail the documents to be signed and witnessed. Once your LPA has been registered we will send you the documents for safe-keeping to be implemented when the need arises.
